Design and produce magazine covers and text: graphic art for a high-quality trade periodical. Cover and text layout, photo acquisition, and electronic prepress. Create technical and editorial illustrations, promotional materials.

Design and produce magazine covers and text: Art direction for high-quality trade periodicals. Cover and text layout, photo acquisition and art direction, electronic prepress tasks. Art direction for studio photography, technical and editorial illustrations, color scanning services, service bureaus, and printers. Demonstrated skill in handling schedule demands while maintaining high levels of quality and team cooperation.
Magazine development, design and templates: Design and develop electronic templates, style sheets, and libraries for magazine start-ups or redesigns. Create promotional support materials.
Designer/Account Supervisor/Print Manager, Vesta Publishing Services, Eugene, Oregon. 1982–present
Design and produce books: Manage all phases of production, including editorial, design, production, printing, and binding. Produced over 60 titles in subject areas of history, biography, poetry, science, health, and other nonfiction. Prepare final camera-ready art for both texts and covers, working in-house and with subcontractors and printers locally and nationally. Manage project budgets in excess of $25,000. Extensive photo selection, color specification, and computer-assisted publishing.

Advanstar Editorial Quality awards, 1994–99, including Magazine of the Year 1999 (Pharmaceutical Executive), Best Cover in 1996 and 1997 (Pharmaceutical Technology), Best Graphic Presentation 1997 (ITS World) . Advanstar’s Chairman Award in 1998. Maggie Award finalist, 1997 (ITS World). Benjamin Franklin Award for book design and production (Of Life and Joy), Publisher’s Marketing Association, Los Angeles, California, 1988. Certificate of Recognition and People’s Choice Award for book design and production (Black Sheep Newsletter Companion), Designer’s Forum, Eugene, Oregon, 1985. Statewide juried gallery exhibits for design and production of various artists’ books, 1989–1991.
